Chêne Bleu is a critically-acclaimed winery in the Ventoux region of the Southern Rhône, located high in the Dentelles de Montmirail in a protected mountain saddle in a UNESCO biosphere reserve. This family-owned, single estate makes meticulously handcrafted wines in tiny quantities from the highest vineyard in the region and one of the highest in the South of France. The resulting cool nights and late harvest bring a highly desirable ‘Northern Rhône’ style freshness to the ‘Southern Rhône’ rich concentration of fruit and tannin.
The owners, Xavier & Nicole Rolet, took the bold decision to take their wines out of the AOC system to have full artistic freedom to pursue the property’s utmost potential for quality. As such, the wines carry the IGP Vaucluse designation, as such their wines can be considered the first ever “Super Rhônes”.
I created Wine Monkey to bring together a collection of lesser-known craft wines that celebrate sustainability, whether environmental, human, economic and/or social and to support the producers who see and care about the bigger picture.
You name it, I've done it: from marketing and brand management to retail and trade sales, wine tourism, wine education, ecommerce and, most recently sommelier, with several vintages under my belt both in the cellar and in the vineyard.
Having worked my way through the vineyards of southern Oregon, the Loire, the Languedoc, the Rhône and now the UK, I have developed a passion for "unique boutique" wines. Wine Monkey is all about bringing together and showcasing the incredible wines I've collected along the way. Get in touch to let me know what you think of my selection and to share your favorites with me. I'd love to hear from you!
