Awards and medals are very important producers in almost every country in the world. They help to draw attention from both buyers and consumers, distinguish wines from competitors and recognize and reward a producer for a job well done. Competitions have different themes and will focus on various criteria (overall quality, value for money, best packaging or label, critic’s or sommelier’s choice, organic only, etc.). Some of the most famous and reputable competitions to look out for are the Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA), International Wine and Spirits Competitions (IWSC), International Wine Challenge (IWC), Sommeliers Choice Awards (SCA), Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, Challenge Millésime Bio, and more recently in the UK, the Wines of Great Britain (WineGB), the London Wine Competition and the Independent English Wine Awards (IEWA).
